I hope you send it to the many at the top, Eden. It reflects the frustration felt by most of us.

But what kind of move has to happen if and when the other trustees who, so they say, reluctantly voted the budget in? What does it take to turn the tide? And if a majority of schools were to choose the option of not passing it, what do you think the government could or would do? I don't know much about the system and that is why I am asking. I would like to have some kind of vision to believe in other than this bloody bleak constipated state of affairs.

Wouldn't it be great if we, the people, could take the government to court for endangering the well-being of our students?

Eden, I am so proud to have you as a voice in public education. Even when you feel it is hopeless, someone will hear or read what you have to say and hopefully, with support, it will be taken seriously. An end to the monetary system will help. It's not if, it's when, if it's not too late.

thankyou, very important to read these comments and even though my children are not in this school board i do make a conscious considertaion towards the future ,my grand children. Education is a privilege and a priority in Canada that I do desire to see improvement ,not decay. i'm really prepared to let our government know ,I don't approve of cutting the funding . The nos. of children are always increasing ,let's tear down the asbestos infested schools here and really provide a healthy environment ,unlike our own ,to the children of the future. Right now we have obligations as adults and Canadians to choose the kind of world WE WANT! Yours, Susan Hepburn

Are you aware the Seeds and Salt Theatre Company, located in the Cowichan Valley produces historical theatre productions based on labour and minority struggles that took place on Vancouver Island. Last years production called 'Four Stories; Pieces From Our Past' dealt with the Nanaimo mine disaster, the miners' strike in Ladysmith, the teacher's sucide at Camp six that changed BC education policy and the influx of aristocratic British immigrants to the area.
I think you should consider hosting a local history production that has direct links to island history.

I too wonder what could one say to the Minister other than give us the money we need to educate ALL the children in our care. I have read that not getting your Grade 12 is like taking a lifetime earning loss of 140,000 dollars. This directly affects our communities and the next generation. We need to put money in the classroom that bolsters success or we sentence children to a future of decreased quality of life, increased chronic health conditions and reduced life expectancy. Children are still falling behind and dropping out. What is the cost to this community and the cost to children's self-esteem? Can't we just put in place what it takes to help children learn?
